You might expect an action packed movie in the lines of Wanted or Dabangg which is not the case with Bodyguard. Read on to find what Bodyguard has in store for us.
Cast: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Raj Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Hazel Keech Direction: Siddique Music: Pritam, Himesh Reshammiya and Sandip Shirodkar Producer: Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Agnihotri and Reliance Entertainment
The plot: Lovely Singh (Salman Khan) is a loyal Bodyguard who is given the responsibility to protect Divya (Kareena Kapoor) from some villainous forces. In the course of time it so happens that Divya is in love with Lovely and keeps calling him under the guise of another name Chhaya. During those conversations through phone, even Lovely falls in love with her assuming the girl to be Chhaya. The rest of the plot is about whether Lovely will get to know that Divya is the girl whom he loves.
The good: Salman Khan. His screen presence is all enough for film enthusiasts like me to watch the movie. The cinematography contributes a lot to the movie. Direction was okay, nothing much to talk about. There was lighthearted humor to prevent boredom. Kareena was looking natural and beautiful compared to her previous films, for which the cinematographer and her stylist have to be credited.
Not-so-good: The title of the film is a total deviation. And so were the promotional wallpapers. This is just another love story with few boring moments here and there. The last 20 minutes were unexpected and highly boring. I wish that at least the love story was shown in a much beautiful way.
Performances: Salman Khan’s performance was equally appropriate in action, emotional and humorous sequences. Kareena justified her role, Raj Babbar appeared just for a couple of sequences and others were as per the requirement.
Verdict: Watch it only if you are a die-hard Salman’s fan.
Rating: 2/5
